Johnnie Mitchell

Executive Director

 

Johnnie holds a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College in Atlanta and a masters of education degree from the University of South Carolina.  She has extensive professional experience in higher education, as well as in secondary and elementary schools as instructor, teacher, and administrator.  In addition, she has qualified experience in consulting, social services, and community development, including program director positions leading various projects, programs, and initiatives.

 

Johnnie joined Carolina Studios in 2007 as the data administrator, and quickly earned her current position as the executive director in 2008.  Very passionate about the expansion of Carolina Studios, Johnnie develops and then implements new program initiatives.  She oversees all Carolina Studios field locations and their instructors.  She also assists in securing funding sources for the organization, and prepares reports to assess the needs of each program.  Johnnie is the lifeline of Carolina Studios, and she reports to and coordinates with the board of directors.

 


INSTRUCTORS

Hilliard Robinson
Hilliard is an Emmy Award winning Professional Broadcast Engineer.  He was a designer and engineer in charge for a video system used on major concert tours like: Britney Spears “Onyx Hotel World Tour,” Jada Pinckett-Smith, Santana (Shaman tour & Super Natural tour), American Idol 2, Fleetwood Mac, Destiny’s Child (MTV TRL Tour), Eve, and Jessica Simpson.  He received an Emmy Award nomination for 2002 Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies (NBC) for outstanding technical excellence and Emmy Award ceremony (Oscars) for outstanding technical excellence.  Hilliard enjoys singing and plays numerous instruments.  He also attended Devry, Mesa Community College, and Trident Tech.

John Sigmon
John is a 2008 Graduate of the College of Charleston with Bachelor Degrees in Arts Management and Business Administration.  He has experience in event planning, audio/visual services, and management.  He if fluent in Spanish and his interests include songwriting, home recording, playing piano and guitar, and swimming, camping, and skiing.

Andrew Walker
Andrew is a 2008 Graduate of the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Composition.  He also graduated with honors from the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.  Andrew has extensive experience as creator, executive producer, and artistic director for Entropy Ensemble.  He was a producer of productions, including “An Evening with Christopher O’Riley” at the Music Farm; “Instrumental Arrangement of Radiohead, Fitter Happier” at the Sottile Theater; and “Musical Reworkings of Radiohead” at the Simons Center for the Arts at the College of Charleston.
